DETROIT (WOOD) — A Detroit man was rescued by firefighters after hanging upside down from his basement window for 13 hours after trying to break into his own home.

WDIV-TV, the NBC affiliate in Detroit, reports the man had lost his keys so he decided to break into his house, but his foot got stuck inside the basement window.

The man dangled upside down for 13 hours on Thursday with his head just inches above flood water before a neighbor found him.

WDIV says firefighters were able to get him down and he was taken to the hospital.
