Man hit by gunfire while driving in GR

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is in the hospital after police say he was hit by gunfire while driving in Grand Rapids.

Grand Rapids police tell 24 Hour News 8 that they responded to a call of gunfire that was heard in the area of 32nd Street SE and Eastern Avenue SE around 1:11 a.m. Sunday. Police say when they arrived on-scene, they found shell casings in the road.

Police were alerted to a man who arrived at St. Mary’s hospital with a gunshot wound. The 24-year-old man told police he was driving in the area when the shots hit his car. He suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the thigh.
