The shooting happened around 2 a.m. Saturday at the Lake Michigan Drive Apartments complex north of campus. The victim, a 28-year-old man from Grand Rapids, was found in the parking lot. On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said the victim continues to recover at the hospital.

Two men were taken into custody for questioning not long after the shooting. The sheriff’s office said further investigation revealed both were involved in the shooting and that they knew the victim.

It’s unclear if the second person who was taken into custody for questioning is also facing charges in the shooting.

The sheriff’s office said Brent is not a student at Grand Valley State University.
