Man arrested after shooting, fight in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was arrested for attempted murder after shooting at two people in Kalamazoo.

Officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety were called to the 4200 block of Lakesedge Drive around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a large fight and shots fired. A large crowd was in the area when officers arrived.

Investigators say two men were fighting with each other when one of them pulled out a handgun and fired it at two Kalamazoo men, but nobody was struck.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. He was later located in the 1100 block of Mason Street where he was arrested for assault with intent to commit murder.

The suspect, a 33-year-old Kalamazoo man, is being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting arraignment.
