Sargent Art recalls craft paints possibly tainted by bacteria

HAZLETON, Pa. (WOOD) — Sargent Art is recalling 2.8 million packages of craft paint that may contain harmful bacteria.

The recalled paint was sold between May 2015 and June 2016 at Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart and other stores nationwide and online at and on the company’s website.

The Pennsylvania-based company issued the voluntary recall Tuesday, saying the bacteria the paint may harbor poses risk of serious illness in people with compromised immune systems. However, the Consumer Product Safety Commission says healthy consumers are generally not affected by the bacteria and no complaints have been reported.

Sargent Art is recalling 13 types of paint in all colors and sizes, including:

  • Art-Time Washable Fluorescent Finger Paint
  • Art-Time Washable Fluorescent Tempera Paint
  • Art-Time Washable Glitter Finger Paint
  • Art-Time Washable Paint
  • Fluorescent Tempera Paint
  • Liquid Tempera Paint
  • Supreme Tempera Paint
  • Value Tempera Paint
  • Washable Finger Paint
  • Washable Glitter Paint
  • Washable Tempera Paint
