CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was arrested after taking off from a traffic stop southeast of Grand Rapids.

Michigan State Police tried to pull the vehicle over on M-6, the Kent County Sheriff’s Department said on Twitter, but the driver fled.

The sheriff’s department responded with a K-9 to help look for the people who were in the vehicle in the area of M-6 and Thornapple River Drive in Cascade Township, southeast of Gerald R. Ford International Airport. Multiple WOOD TV8 viewers reported a large police presence in that area.

One person was arrested, but another remained at large, the sheriff’s office tweeted just after 4 p.m. That second person was described as about 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds with longer black hair and wearing a darker T-shirt. Anyone with information or who noticed suspicious activity was asked to call 911.

It was not immediately known what prompted the initial traffic stop.
