Woman, 89, killed in Battle Creek bus crash

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — An 89-year-old woman was killed Saturday in Battle Creek after the vehicle she was driving crashed into a bus.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. at the intersection of McCamly Street and Van Buren Street in downtown Battle Creek, according to Battle Creek Police Chief James Blocker.

The woman was driving southbound on McCamly when she ran a red light and struck a New Level Sport’s bus. No children were on the bus at the time of the crash, according to Blocker.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.

Blocker said she may have had a medical condition. Speed was not a factor.
