SCHOOLCRAFT, Mich. (WOOD) — A 14-year-old in Kalamazoo County has been charged with a 20-year felony after police say he posted a threat on social media.
Late Saturday afternoon, Schoolcraft Community Schools staff alerted the Schoolcraft Police Department to an Instagram post that mentions ‘shooting up’ a school — though it did not specify a district or building.
Police provided media with an image of the Instagram post. It reads: “I’m the white kid that shoots up your school. AK47 to the head boom boom. I’m sick of all these people calling me a loser. This is your fault now I’m the school shooter.”
Police investigated, which led to the arrest of a 14-year-old boy for using terrorist threats, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
The teen was taken to the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Schoolcraft police at 269.679.5600 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
