Jury finds man guilty of murder in GR apartment shooting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A jury convicted a man of first-degree murder following a deadly shooting at an apartment in Grand Rapids.

Robert Hallman, 32, was found guilty of murdering 26-year-old Stroy Pittman, as well as weapons charges. He learned the jury’s decision on Monday in a Kent County courtroom.

The deadly shooting happened on March 10 at the Alger Meadows Apartments on Ottillia Street. According to a neighbor, someone drove up to the apartment with a gun, went inside, fired several shots and took off.

The victim’s mother, Kimberley Pittman, told 24 Hour News 8 he had just welcomed his second child a month before he was killed.

Hallman is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 10.
