Man makes off with cash from Niles-area bank

NILES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are looking for the man who robbed a bank south of Niles Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 1 p.m. at the Chemical Bank branch in the 1800 block of S. 11th Street, north of Bell Road. According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, the robber gave a teller a note demanding money. The teller gave him an undetermined amount of cash, and he took off.

No one was hurt.

The suspect was described as a 5-foot-8 black male with a medium build wearing dark clothes. He was in his late 30s or early 40s.
