Student-run school store unveiled in GR

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Following months of hard work, students at Innovation Central High School unveiled their new school store Friday morning.

Students in weren’t just involved in the construction of the store called DECA Express, but students in the Academy of Business, Leadership and Entrepreneurship will also be running it.

Earnings from the store will be put towards their participation in DECA competitions, which prepares students for their aspiring business careers.

“It’s a great fundraiser for our DECA program and it’s also a great experience for the students because they actually get real world retail experience,” said Brenda Cook, a teacher and DECA adviser at the school.

The entire project was funded by Amway, who partnered with Innovation Central High School as a way provide business students with invaluable hands on experience.
