GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A pedestrian died Saturday night after he was struck by an SUV in Grand Rapids.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says a man was crossing 28th Street near Eastern Avenue around 9:49 p.m. when he was hit by a westbound SUV. Police on-scene say he was not using the crosswalk.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Grand Rapids police news release. Tuesday, police identified him as Robert Bunch, 53, of Grand Rapids.

The driver of the SUV, a 56-year-old man, was not injured in the crash. Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor for the driver.
