Police: Man in critical condition after BC shooting

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Battle Creek police say a man is in critical condition after he was shot in the chest late Saturday night.

It happened at 10:43 p.m. in the 200 block of Cherry Street. Police say the victim was outside when several shots were heard. One of the shots struck the 48-year-old man in the lower chest. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Police located a person of interest a few blocks away. The 26-year-old man from Battle Creek is being questioned. A firearm has also been recovered.
