Dog killed, man hurt after being hit by vehicle

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was hurt and his dog killed when they were hit by a car as they walked north of Holland Monday morning.

The crash happened just before 9 a.m. on Quincy Street near 140th Avenue in Holland Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

The pedestrian, 66-year-old James Stetler of Holland, was walking his dog when they were both struck by a vehicle. Stetler was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The dog died at the scene.

The driver involved, Michelle Trejo of Holland Township, told deputies she lost control of her vehicle and crossed the centerline before the crash. She was cited for careless driving.
