BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police have identified the man who was struck and killed by a car in Kent County Monday morning.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Department says a 1998 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on S. Division near Fontenelle Street in the unincorporated community of Cutlerville when it hit a pedestrian crossing the street around 5:40 a.m.

The pedestrian, identified as 67-year-old Terry Lenardson of Gaines Township, died on scene. Police say he was wearing dark clothing and was not in a crosswalk.

The driver, a 61-year-old Wyoming man, was not injured in the crash. It’s unclear if he will face any charges.

Police say alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.

Division Avenue was closed for a couple hours before reopening around 8 a.m.
