GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A Rockford man has been charged with robbing two teens at gunpoint during the Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven earlier this year.

The robbery happened around 10:35 p.m. Aug. 5 in the parking lot of the YMCA off Mulligan Drive, according to the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety. That’s not far from where Coast Guard Festival events were happening along the Grand River and at the pier.

Police say the robber, who was armed with a gun, stole cellphones and jewelry from two 17-year-olds from Montague.

The suspect, an 18-year-old from Rockford, faces two counts of armed robbery. His name was not released Monday pending formal arraignment.
