KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Thousands of West Michigan children will have something cuddly to cling to during a traumatic situation, thanks to authorities in Kalamazoo County.

Their Teddy Bear Posse Drive netted more than 5,000 bears and stuffed animals for children who first responders encounter during their calls.

Wednesday, every local police, fire and ambulance service visited the Kalamazoo County Expo Center to fill their vehicles with donated toys collected during the 10-week drive.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department called the campaign “a huge success.”
