Missing Detroit toddler found safe; suspect in custody

DETROIT (WOOD) —  A suspect in the kidnapping of a Detroit toddler is in police custody.

NBC affiliate WDIV reports 19-year-old Michael Grayson was taken into custody just after 2:30 p.m., shortly after 3-year-old Marvie Gardner was found safe at a house in Detroit.

An Amber Alert for Marvie was issued Thursday morning after he was taken from his home in the 19300 block of Winston Street.

According to WDIV, someone saw a man matching the description of the suspect in the area and called police.

Marvie’s mother told WDIV she believes a family friend took him and left behind a note that read: “Get my baby!! Will Contact. Done Play’n Let’s Play.”
