HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The man accused of fatally shooting his mother’s boyfriend at an apartment complex north of Holland has been formally charged.
The suspect, 24-year-old Darveaille Jamar Blakeney, was arraigned Thursday afternoon on a charge of open murder and a felony weapons charge in connection to the murder of 41-year-old Joseph Jordan, according to the Holland District Court clerk.
Jordan was shot at Traditions Holland Apartments, in the area of Quincy Street and 136th Avenue in Holland Township Wednesday.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office’s initial investigation indicated Jordan and his girlfriend, who live at the apartment complex, started arguing. Blakeney allegedly tried to intervene in the argument and then fatally shot Jordan. He was arrested a short time later.
The girlfriend was not hurt.
