GRAND HAVEN, Mich (WOOD) – Nose and sinus issues are common but can be treated effectively with over the counter remedies, medical therapy and surgery. If you have nose and sinus problems, you do not have to be miserable. Lakeshore Health Partners joined eightWest to give viewers some relief.

Prevention strategies:
1. Avoid smoking
2. Avoid allergens
3. Avoid dry, dusty environments
4. Use humidifier as needed
5. Stay hydrated
6. Seek treatment for chronic allergies

Home treatments:
1. Hydration
2. Breathing warm, humidified air
3. Short course of nasal decongestant spray (3 days max)
4. Nasal saline irrigations

Create your own saline solution at home: 1 quart (4 cups) boiled or distilled water 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon non-iodized salt
