KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers say a standoff that stemmed from a fight with a roommate has ended peacefully.

Public Safety officers first responded to the home in the 1300 block of Mills Street at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities say a 43-year-old man, who was intoxicated, assaulted his roommate and threatened her with a knife. The 36-year-old woman was not injured and is out of the home, officers say, but the man would not come out when they arrived.

Officers obtained a search warrant, but said the man still would not exit the home. The Kalamazoo Metro SWAT Team, as well as negotiators, were brought on-scene to help with execution of the warrant.

The man was taken into custody after 4:30 a.m. on charges of Felonious Domestic Assault.
