Burt and another man, Jaylan Traviss, were charged in the homicide of 23-year-old Charles Cuti, who was shot and killed outside of Sam’s Drink All on S. Getty Street in April. Burt was arrested in Muskegon the day after the homicide. Traviss was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Ohio nearly three weeks later.

Burt was scheduled to stand trial starting Tuesday. Under the terms of a plea deal, a second charge of armed robbery was dropped. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 28.

Traviss is charged with open murder, armed robbery and felony firearm. His trial is still scheduled to start Tuesday.
