WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Metro Health stresses the importance of a healthy lifestyle in a number of ways through their Live Healthy Programs.

They recognize that nutrition is an important part of healthy living, particularly for the developing minds of children. In Michigan, 1 in 5 kids is affected by hunger.

To fight this, Metro Health is proud to support Kids Food Basket, a West Michigan non-profit dedicated to ensuring that children in the area are able to get the nutrition and food they need to focus in school and grow up to be healthy, happy adults.

Each weekday, Kids Food Basket serves nearly 7,500 children in West Michigan. Their ‘Sack Supper’ program provides nutritious evening meals to children, who otherwise may rely on school lunches as their only meal for the day.

Hundreds of volunteers prepare and distribute these meals to area children each weekday.
