Fire alarm prompts evacuation at East Kentwood HS

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Students at East Kentwood High School were evacuated Wednesday morning after a fire alarm went off.

School officials say students were taken to the freshman campus gymnasium after the fire alarm sounded around 6:30 a.m.

Firefighters discovered a burned out pump on a water boiler caused the alarm to go off, according to a post on Kentwood Public Schools Facebook page.

Students were allowed back in the building by 7:20 a.m. and classes resumed.
