GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A new report shows police officers in Michigan are the most overworked in the country.
According to a study by home security company SafeWise, there are more than 23,000 law enforcement workers in Michigan who are kept busy by heavily populated cities such as Detroit.
In 2014, more than 630,000 crimes were reported in Michigan — averaging about 28 crimes per officer.
SafeWise says while this may not seem like a big number, a lot of hours go into testifying in court, filing paperwork, and resolving the incident.
Statewide, there are 350 civilians for every one police officer.
Nevada, Idaho, Kentucky and Arkansas rounded out the top five.
