BC man arrested after attacking roommate with knife

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A Battle Creek man was arrested after police say he attacked his roommate with a knife.

The Battle Creek Police Department received a 911 call of a stabbing around midnight Friday at a home in the first block of Bennett Street. Officers had previously been to that same house two other times in three hours for the roommates who were drinking and arguing.

Witnesses told police after the second 911 call, a 58-year-old man was told to go upstairs. However, two hours later he came back downstairs with a knife and attacked a 45-year-old man.

The victim suffered a cut to his hand while defending himself and was treated at the house.

Witnesses say the suspect fell down during the attack and hit his head causing a cut above his eye. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and then lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on assault with intent to murder charges.

Police say both men rent separate rooms in the house, along with several other people. No one else was injured in the assault.
