GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids police say a Grand Rapids man and his 4-month-old son have been accounted for.

Nathaniel Vance made arrangements to have his son Nakarion returned to his mother. Nathaniel is no longer considered missing, police say.

Officers say the incident did not meet the requirements for issuing an Amber Alert.

Police said Nathaniel Vance was not wanted for a crime at this time, but they were concerned because of his history of potentially violent behavior.

State records obtained by 24 Hour News 8 showed Vance has a criminal history dating back to 1986.  He was also arrested in connection to the Sept. 26 shooting death of Joseph Banks, but later released. A second man, 21-year-old Martez McLaughlin, has since been charged in connection to that crime.
