GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids police set up a perimeter in a southeast-side neighborhood Saturday evening as they looked for the person who robbed a pizza delivery driver.
The armed robbery happened around 8:15 p.m. on Montgomery Street SE, east of Jefferson Avenue, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department. That’s where officers established their perimeter. A K-9 unit was also called to the scene.
Police say the driver delivered the pizza, was paid and returned to his car. At that point, a bystander saw an opportunity and robbed the driver. The robber then ran away. No one was hurt.
A specific suspect description was not immediately available.
The people who ordered the pizza were not involved in the robbery, police say.
