Wyoming DPS: Shooting victim tries to flee; no arrests

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Wyoming police are searching for a suspect in an early Saturday shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

It happened around 3 a.m. in the 1000 block of Chicago Drive in Wyoming.

Wyoming police say the suspect and the victim got into a fight on a rented limousine bus, at which point the bus pulled over. Two to three shots were then fired from a handgun, striking the victim in the hand. The suspect and all other passengers then fled the bus.

The victim was found four blocks from the bus. Police say he tried to run from and fight officers who tried to help him. The 24-year-old Grand Rapids man was taken to the hospital.

He and all the other witnesses provided only vague details about the incident, police said.

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the suspect. He is described as a black male in his mid-20s, 6 feet tall with a stocky build.
