GRPD: Two teens shot; no one arrested

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids police are investigating a shooting that sent two teenagers to the hospital.

It happened at 12:24 a.m. Saturday in the area of in the 600 block of Delaware Street SE.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says a party was being held in the area when shots rang out from across the street. A person who was in the crowd returned fire. Police described the scene as “chaotic.”

Police say two people, both 16 years old, were hit by the gunfire. One of the victims was shot in the upper torso and the other in the upper leg. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say they do not have any suspects, but say they found two handguns at the scene. A K-9 unit was brought in, but was unable to track the suspect.
