KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Pop icon Cher used harsh words to describe Donald Trump as she campaigned for Hillary Clinton in Kalamazoo Monday.
A few hundred people gathered at Western Michigan University’s Bernhard Center cheered loudly as Cher took the podium.
She slammed the Republican presidential candidate, calling him a “racist,” and said she “actually feel(s) sorry” for his supporters.
“It’s so laughable what an a**hole he is,” she said. “I don’t understand how they see him as their hero.”
She also encouraged students to get out and vote for Clinton.
“We need to get out there. We need to give our support to our country. This is to our country. It’s not to any party, really. It’s to serve our country and to hope that everyone has a chance to do better than the people behind them, than the generation behind them,” she said. “And I believe that you are the guys, you’re the chosen. It’s not him (Trump). You’re the chosen, you’re the ones that were coming. You’re the ones that will lead, so please go out and vote.”
As she left the event, 24 Hour News 8 asked Cher why she thought it was important to be in Kalamazoo.
“Because this is the most important election of my life,” she replied.
Cher also held campaign events in East Lansing and Flint on Monday.
