KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The man who killed a Kalamazoo Central High School student in January will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Monday, Nasi Moshe Ben-Yaisrael was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder.
In September, a jury convicted him of murder and felony firearm in the Jan. 2 death of 18-year-old Deshontae Ellis.
Ellis was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn on West Michigan Avenue in Oshtemo Township. Ben-Yaisrael was arrested after he and other suspects returned to the scene about 12 hours after the shooting.
Ben-Yaisrael was also sentenced to two years in prison for felony firearm.
