Shooting sends Grand Rapids teen to hospital; no one in custody

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids detectives are trying to identify a suspect in a shooting that sent a teenager to the hospital.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Cass Avenue SE around 12:25 a.m. Monday after multiple reports of gunfire in the area.

Officers didn’t find any victims at the scene, but a 17-year-old from Grand Rapids showed up at an area hospital just after 2 a.m. with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his upper torso.

Officers say their preliminary investigation shows the victim was walking on Cass Avenue when the gunfire erupted.
