Semi-truck driver killed in US-131 crash

MECOSTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan State Police say a medical emergency may have led to the Mecosta County crash that killed a semi-truck driver.

The crash happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on southbound US-131, south of 8 Mile Road in Mecosta Township.

A witness told MSP the vehicle veered off the road and drove into the trees.

The driver, identified by police as 55-year-old David Kolp of Harrison, was unresponsive when troopers arrived. He later died at a Big Rapids hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
