KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Kalamazoo County authorities are warning residents not to believe a man calling them, claiming to be a cop and demanding bond money.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said the phone scammer goes by the name of Officer Hall. He has been calling victims and saying there is a warrant out for their arrest and they need to pay bond.

The scammer asks victims to call 269.245.0951. If you call that number, you hear a message saying you have reached the sheriff’s office — but authorities say it’s bogus.

If you hear from the scammer, you’re asked to call the actual sheriff’s office at 269.383.8821.

The sheriff’s office says it will never call you over the phone and demand money. If you get a suspicious solicitation, you should contact authorities to check it out.
