MARENGO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One woman was killed and another seriously hurt in a crash northeast of Marshall on Wednesday, Calhoun County authorities say.
The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Partello and 20 Mile roads in Marengo Township, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. The initial investigation indicates an eastbound Dodge Durango struck a southbound Ford Fusion, which authorities say may not have stopped at a traffic sign.
A 67-year-old Olivet woman who was a passenger in the Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman driving the Fusion was airlifted to Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, where she was listed in critical condition later Wednesday.
The two males in the Durango were treated at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall and released.
Authorities say everyone was wearing their seat belt, air bags deployed properly and alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
The sheriff’s office did not release any names on Wednesday.
