KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 10-year-old boy was hit and killed by a vehicle while attempting to cross a street in Kalamazoo Township.
Police say the vehicle was traveling westbound in the 4200 block of W. Main Street around 8 p.m. Wednesday when the boy, along with others, tried to cross the street in an area without traffic controls or a crossing for pedestrians.
The driver of the vehicle, a 52-year-old Kalamazoo man, was unable to avoid hitting the boy.
Police say the 10-year-old was taken to Bronson Hospital where he later died.
No one else was injured in the crash. Police don’t believe the driver was under the influence of any substance.
The crash remains under investigation.
