Energy assistance this upcoming winter

DTE Energy partners with other local agencies to educate and provide energy assistance

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – The weather is still mild in West Michigan but with November here, colder temperatures around the corner. Now is the time for people to start preparing for the winter heating season.

If you and your family have hit hard times, DTE Energy and local organizations like the Heat and Warmth Fund, Salvation Army, Consumers Energy and, the Heart of West Michigan United Way have partnered together to help.

Friday November 4th DTE Energy and others held a Custom Assistance Day where customers were able to get free one on one advice on energy issues.

Customers can get signed up for assistance programs and affordable payment plans. They can learn energy savings tips and receive free energy efficient tools.

DTE Energy customers can also sign up for a free Home Energy Consultation at their home.

There two other energy assistance events taking place this weekend:

Saturday, Nov. 5, 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. – Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Day (NEED): Residents in a select Grand Rapids neighborhood will receive free Home Energy Consultations including energy efficiency tools, materials and energy saving tips.

Saturday, Nov. 5, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. – Hallelujah for Heat Gospel Concert: A night of celebration to recognize our energy assistance advocates. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. to the general public.  New Hope Baptist Church, 130 Delaware St SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49507.
