GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are still working to learn what led up to an apparent murder-suicide that left two 21-year-olds dead in Grand Rapids’ Eastown neighborhood.
The Grand Rapids Police Department says officers were called to the 1400 block of Lake Drive SE near Richard Terrace at 3:07 a.m. Sunday after several gunshots were heard.

Their names were not released Sunday morning. Their relationship to one another is also not yet clear.
“An absolutely tragic occurrence. Not anything that usually happens in this very family-friendly, vibrant neighborhood. We’re just so devastated for the families of the victims,” said Sara Wepman, the co-owner of the nearby That Early Bird cafe.
The case is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call GRPD at 616.456.3400 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
