Power restored to nearly 5k Consumers Energy customers in Downtown GR

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Power has been restored to thousands of Consumers Energy customers throughout GR.

According to the Consumers Energy outage map, power was lost just before 8:30 a.m.

A spokesperson tells 24 Hour News 8 a squirrel managed to climb into a substation and disrupted the circuit. The outage impacted 4,700 customers.

According to the map, the outage was concentrated in the Heritage Hill and Downtown areas.
