1 ejected, seriously hurt in crash near Grand Haven

GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One woman was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition after being ejected from her vehicle during a crash southeast of Grand Haven Monday.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of 144th Avenue at Wintergreen Street in Grand Haven Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say 55-year-old Peggy Brandon was driving through a mobile home park there at a higher speed than was appropriate. Witnesses told authorities that Brandon ran the stop sign at the park entrance and collided with a car that was southbound on 114th. Brandon was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from her vehicle.

She sustained a number of injuries, the most serious of which was a head wound. She was taken by Aero Med to a Grand Rapids hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 32-year-old from Holland, was not hurt.
