ALAMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are looking for the driver who struck a group of bicyclists south of Otsego Thursday evening and then took off.
It happened just after 7 p.m. Thursday on N. 6th Street at Ravine Road in Alamo Township, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
Four bicyclists were involved in the hit-and-run, the sheriff’s office said. Two of them, 50-year-old Mathew Sides of Plainwell and 44-year-old Andrea Fore of Kalamazoo were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities have determined the cyclists were wearing helmets and had lighting on their bicycles.
The vehicle was initially described only as a dark-colored pickup truck which was seen driving south from the crash. However, parts of the vehicle found at the scene lead investigators to believe it is a GM pickup truck — either an Avalanche, Escalade, Sierra or Silverado — from years 2007 to 2013. It is most likely dark in color and will have damage to the passenger side headlight lens assembly and front bumper.
Police are still looking for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 269.383.8748 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
