GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man who was guilty of first-degree murder following a deadly shooting at an apartment in Grand Rapids will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Robert Hallman, 32, was sentenced to life in prison for murdering 26-year-old Stroy Pittman in Kent County Circuit Court Thursday. He was found guilty by jury of first-degree murder as well as weapon charges in October.

The deadly shooting happened on March 10 at the Alger Meadows Apartments on Ottillia Street. According to a neighbor, someone drove up to the apartment with a gun, went inside, fired several shots and took off.

The victim’s mother, Kimberley Pittman, told 24 Hour News 8 he had just welcomed his second child a month before he was killed.

Hallman is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 10.
