Police: Woman suffers serious injuries in Wyoming crash

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Wyoming police are investigating a crash that landed a woman in the hospital with serious injuries.

Police were called to the intersection of Chicago Drive SW and Wendler Avenue SW around 6:56 a.m. Saturday.

Wyoming police say a 28-year-old Kentwood man was traveling east bound crossed the center line. His vehicle struck a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Polita Saavedraleon, a Grand Rapids resident, head-on.

Crews on-scene say Saavedraleon was pinned in her vehicle for approximately 29 minutes before she was extricated by fire personnel. She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police did not release the man’s name, but crews on-scene tell 24 Hour News 8 that his injuries are not serious.

Police are investigating to figure out whether speed or alcohol are factors in the crash.
