TYRONE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies say a teen was killed when his vehicle left the road and struck several trees in Kent County.
It happened around 3:00 p.m. Saturday on Red Pine Drive NW near 18 Mile Road NW in Tyrone Township.
Witnesses told deputies the vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Isiah Slater, tried to pass a vehicle when he lost control, left the roadway and struck several trees.
Slater was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies say speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, and Slater was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
