ORONOKO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Investigators are trying to track down three men who broke into a Berrien County man’s home and shot him.

It happened around 10:20 a.m. Friday at a home in the 200 block of East Snow Road, located in Oronoko Township, southeast of Baroda.

Travis Donnell Eidsness told police three strangers showed up at his home and one of the men asked to use his phone, claiming his cellphone had no service. Eidsness said after a brief conversation, one of the suspects drew a handgun and ordered him into the house. Eidsness said he was shot in the left shoulder during a struggle, but was able to escape to a neighbor’s home to get help.

The suspects were last seen in a newer model white Ford Focus.

Authorities believe the suspects specifically targeted Eidsness’ home, but they are not disclosing any possible reasons why.

Authorities say Eidsness was treated at a hospital and is expected to fully recover.
