FRUITPORT CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say the driver of a semi-truck was killed in a rollover crash on I-96 in Muskegon County.

The driver was identified Tuesday evening as 50-year-old Aaron Mather of the Fruitport area.

The semi was mangled in the crash which happened on westbound I-96 after Airline Highway (Exit 4) in Fruitport Charter Township early Tuesday morning.

It’s unclear what led up to the crash, but there was heavy fog in the area.

One westbound lane of the freeway was closed for several hours while police investigated and cleaned up the crash.
