ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A motorcyclist was seriously hurt when he crashed while trying to avoid hitting a deer northwest of Allendale.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. Thursday in the area of Bass Drive and Lincoln Street in Robinson Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

William Payette, 58, of Grand Haven, laid his motorcycle down when a deer ran out into the road in front of him. The bike rolled over on top of him, causing what the sheriff’s office described as massive internal injuries.

He was rushed to a Grand Rapids hospital, where his condition was not known Thursday night.
