Authorities investigating 7 cases of child porn in Ottawa Co.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are investigating seven separate cases of child pornography in Ottawa County.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department’s Cpt. Mark Bennet told 24 Hour News 8 the investigation began with information supplied to the department from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Internet Crimes against Children Task Force regarding the distribution of child pornography on the internet.

There have been three arrests, two other cases have been turned over to the prosecutor for review and two other cases remain under investigation.

OCSD and Holland Department of Public Safety detectives used search warrants to discover the suspects accused of sharing the child sexually abusive material through the internet.

The suspects are from Holland, Grand Haven, West Olive and Spring Lake. Authorities have not released their names at this time.
