BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Traffic was backed up for miles Friday after a fiery semi-truck crash on Interstate 94 in Battle Creek.
Calhoun County dispatchers say it happened just before 8 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-94 at the I-94 business loop/Columbia Road.
The Michigan Department of Transportation said the crash closed all eastbound lanes, leading to a three-mile traffic backup.
Dispatchers say authorities shut down that section for a short time to put out the fire, but at least one lane was back open around 9:15 a.m.
It’s unclear how many vehicles were involved in the crash and the extent of injuries.
